Xavier Gourmelon was among the initial rescuers to arrive at the site following the devastating accident. He recounted the events of that day and disclosed the last words spoken by the Princess.

According to The Independent, Gourmelon stated that they handled the car, which was in a state of disarray, just like any other road accident.

He proceeded to say, “To me, this was just a routine traffic incident, one of the numerous cases that emergency responders handle regularly, typically caused by speeding and an intoxicated driver…

I noticed a small injury on her right shoulder, but besides that, there was nothing major. There was no blood on her. I held her hand, advised her to stay calm and not move, and reassured her that I was there to help.

When he came to help her, the Princess was still awake and asked, “Oh my goodness, what happened?”

Gourmelon mentioned his belief that the Princess would recover, but was surprised to learn that she passed away the day after being admitted to the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital. Reports stated that Lady Di died due to severe internal injuries and a ruptured blood vessel leading to internal bleeding.

Her funeral was seen by 2.3 billion people globally. Diana’s passing deeply saddened billions. Every single person in Britain grieved her death.

After his son’s death in the crash, Mohamed Al-Fayed, Dodi Fayed’s father, was certain that the incident was not accidental.

Many people will always remember Princess Diana. May she rest peacefully.
