Two Divers Found Themselves Facing A Gigantic Anaconda.

Those who are afraid of snakes will not be able to help but shudder at the mere mention of the Anaconda, the formidable giant snake that can move underwater. We can often observe him with his head above the water, as he advances threateningly, and leaves us petrified at his mere thought. Who knows what the two Brazilian divers must have thought when they encountered a giant specimen of anaconda, near the waters of the Formosus River.

The Anacondas wake up from their hibernation in late July and early August, the perfect time to dive into the crystal-clear waters of the river in question and get to know these majestic creatures better. The water temperature in the river is 22-24 degrees year-round, but in winter the air is usually cooler than the water, so anacondas spend much more time in the water. . Bartolomeo Bove and Juca Ygarape encountered a giant green anaconda, of exceptional dimensions: about 7 meters long, weighing almost 90 kg.
In the video, the snake is in the bed of the river but, after seeing the camera, it inspects it to understand what it is; then he sticks out his tongue and walks away. Bove, a professional diver, and an underwater video reporter were on hand to try and get new footage. The video offers us the incredible opportunity to get to know this strange animal better, often misunderstood in terms of aggression.

“The rivers and ponds around the Bonito area are the only places in South America where anacondas swim in crystal clear water, so it’s easy to dive in and meet one. As can be seen in the video, the anaconda swims in calm and peace, completely indifferent to our presence. Sometimes it approaches, intrigued by my camera, and licks the lens. The behavior of the anaconda belies the myth that it is an aggressive and violent creature, which can endanger people’s lives “.
The green anaconda is the largest snake species in the world and can grow up to 9.1m in length and weigh up to 250kg. These snakes move very quickly and kill their prey by surrounding their powerful body around the unfortunate ones. They can open their jaws very wide and this is how they can swallow prey even larger than them. The green anaconda reaches its enormous size with a diet based on local wildlife, such as capybaras, wild pigs, birds, turtles, and sometimes jaguars. Bove hopes his video will reveal an unexpected side of the magnificent reptile and describe his experience as incredible: “No words can do justice to the feelings I experienced during this experience.”
